Permit matters
At the service point of the Finnish Immigration Service in Helsinki, you can apply for residence permits and registrations of EU citizens’ right of residence. Make an appointment with the service point in advance.

Registering as a resident
If you move to live permanently in Kauniainen, you are required to register as a resident of the municipality. You can register at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency in Helsinki.

When visiting the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, please bring along the following:

personal identification (a passport, for example)

residence permit and residence card (if you need a residence permit for Finland)

right of residence registration certificate (if you are a citizen of an EU country)

birth certificates of your children
Please note that foreign documents must be legalised and translated into Finnish or Swedish.
