Death

If a person dies outside the care of a hospital, immediately notify the police or a doctor. The police will ensure that the cause of death is determined and convey information on it to the Population Register Centre (Väestörekisterikeskus).

When a person close to you dies, you can seek help and support from health centres (terveysasema) and parishes. If a person close to you dies suddenly, or if you have experienced a life-threatening incident, you can receive support from a psychological first aid team. Contact a health centre. They will point you in the right direction.

The Evangelical Lutheran parishes maintain several cemeteries in the Raahe-Kalajoki Region. The graveyards of the Evangelical Lutheran church are so-called general cemeteries where non-members can also be buried; in other words, they are intended for all inhabitants. For more information, see the parish websites.
