Fennovoima Hanhikivi 1 –nuclear power plant project in Pyhäjoki

Fennovoima will construct Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant unit in Pyhäjoki. The plant will be supplied by RAOS Project Oy, which is part of the Russian Rosatom Group.. According to an agreed schedule, the nuclear power plant will produce electricity in 2024. The planning and construction of the nuclear power plant is an extensive project that will take around 10 years to complete.

During the construction of the nuclear power plant, there will be as many as 3,000–4,000 workers in the area. The employer will provide accommodation for most of the employees, and the objective is to provide housing as close to the construction site as possible. Accommodation will be built for 1,000 people in the immediate vicinity of the nuclear power plant area.

Preparations for the nuclear power plant project have been under way for several years in Pyhäjoki and the surrounding area. Information on the area has been gathered, for example, in the Hanhikivi guide that has been published in Finnish, English, Swedish and Russian. Electronic versions of the guide can be found on the project website. You can find a printed guide in the business service centres of the municipalities in the area.
